ALL STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES ARE TO SEND AND RECEIVE SCHOOL COMMUNICATION THROUGH BYU-PROVIDED EMAIL ONLY. THIS HELPS US COMPLY WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS (FERPA) AND INTERNAL SECURITY PRACTICES.
SENDING EMAILS TO EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING FACULTY
Students are to communicate with employees using the employee's NetID, for example, NetID: netid@byu.edu.
How to Access Your BYU Email
Access your BYU Email with Microsoft Outlook. Email addresses start with your student NetID: netid@byu.edu. Watch our video demos to learn how to access Outlook on your preferred devices.
Email communication to BYU students from a BYU entity must be sent to the student's BYU-provided email. This change is to help BYU align with security best practices and federal regulations (FERPA).

Can I get a shared email account for a BYU club or group, separate from my personal email account?
Yes! There’s a form to request a new mailbox at support.byu.edu. One of the options is a Shared Mailbox, which allows multiple people to have access to log into the account and send messages. Each user signs in with their NetID and NetID password, just like a personal account. This can be especially helpful if membership of the group changes frequently.
